Ejari Verification: Check the Record Against Your Contract

In Short

For an Ejari check, use the official record and compare it with your signed agreement. A forwarded image alone should not be your only source of information.

Ejari verification starts with a simple question: does the official rental record match the agreement you signed? Keep the current tenancy contract nearby and work through the details slowly. This is especially useful when several versions or renewal documents have been shared.

Start with an official record

Use the DLD certificate download service or the relevant official channel for your record. Follow the fields shown by the service. Avoid entering contract or identity information into an unfamiliar website that promises a quick check.

A forwarded photograph can help identify a document, but it should not be the only evidence you rely on. Keep the original downloaded file in a secure folder and note when it was obtained.

Compare names and property details

Check the tenant and landlord names against the relevant documents. Then review the building, unit and other property identifiers. A similar building name or a small typing error can make a record difficult to use later.

If someone acts for the owner, ask for the appropriate authority to be confirmed through the proper process. Do not infer ownership or authority merely because a person has a copy of a tenancy record.

Review dates and the rent figure

Compare the contract start and end dates with the signed agreement. Check the rent figure and any other displayed details. Make sure you are looking at the current tenancy period rather than an older record from a previous year.

Keep amendments and renewal correspondence with the main agreement. If terms changed after a first draft, label that draft clearly so it is not used for future applications.

Resolve mismatches through the provider

Write down the exact field that differs and gather the supporting document. Ask the relevant service provider or DLD how it should be corrected. A clear question is easier to resolve than a general statement that the whole certificate is wrong.

Do not edit the certificate image or PDF yourself. Keep the record of the request and save the corrected official output when it is issued. If a discrepancy suggests a wider dispute, use the appropriate official advice channel.

Protect the rental file

Share the document only when needed for a legitimate purpose and through a suitable channel. Read our Ejari meaning guide for the basic distinction between the contract and its registration. Our rental checklist covers wider checks before signing.
