Ejari cancellation is an important part of closing a Dubai rental file. It should sit alongside your handover notes, final bills and deposit discussions. Keeping these tasks on one checklist makes it easier to see what is finished and what still needs attention.
Check the contract status first
The DLD tenancy cancellation service covers an expired contract for a vacated property. Its requirements also address an active contract, including a cancellation request letter from the owner. Check the route that fits your case before submitting.
Write down the Ejari number, property details and contract dates. Compare them with your tenancy agreement. If names, dates or unit details do not match, ask the service provider how to correct the issue rather than sending a guess.
Keep the handover evidence together
Save written communication about the agreed move-out date and the handover. Photograph the condition of the property and record the keys or access cards returned. Keep these documents in a secure folder with your final meter readings and account closure records.
Cancellation does not replace a clear record of money still owed or a deposit discussion. Track those items separately, with dates and written replies. If there is a disagreement, seek advice through the appropriate official channel.
Prepare the documents for your route
DLD lists applicant identity and relevant contract or representative documents for trustee applications. Requirements depend on the contract status and applicant. Read the current official list in full and confirm any missing item with the provider before travelling.
Use the official DLD website, Ejari system or Dubai REST route as appropriate. Avoid sending identity documents to an unknown person who contacts you after seeing a public request for help.
Wait for a completed result
An application submitted online is not the same as an approved cancellation. DLD describes an email notification when the request is approved. Keep the request reference so you can follow up without starting a duplicate application.
Save the final confirmation with the old rental file. If you are moving into another home, give yourself time to resolve outstanding records before the next registration is needed.
Plan the next home separately
Keep the old and new contracts in different folders so their numbers and dates do not get mixed up. Our Ejari meaning guide explains the basic record. Browse rental listings when you are ready for your next viewing.
